Giving Options

At the beginning of each month, I wonder which of my at-risk students will return to class.  Too often their families have been evicted and the move to another temporary home or shelter requires that they have to switch schools or quit attending at all.  When my church issued a call for help in rehabbing a CCH home, it just clicked!   I knew that I had to do more for the low income children that I interact with each day.

CCH is always in need of volunteer support to help maintain CCH housing units or move families in or out of the program, to coordinate special events, or to assist in the office.  Check out the list below.  You are sure to find a way to use your talents working with CCH whether looking for a short-term project or to make a longer term commitment.  We guarantee that your investment of time and expertise will be fulfilling.

General Program Volunteers

These volunteers work with staff either at the office, at one of CCH’s properties or on a special project. The time commitment is variable depending on the task and the volunteer’s availability. Specific tasks include anything from clerical work to moving furniture.

Client Volunteers

These volunteers have direct contact with our clients and their homes. The time commitment is variable depending on the task and the volunteer’s availability. There are a variety of tasks ranging from organizing to clean up to home repairs.

Mentors

Mentors work one-on-one with clients to help them master life skills, for example money management, that will move them towards self-sufficiency.  Following a program provided by CCH, mentors coach clients through a joint learning process.  The time commitment is 2-4 hrs per month.

Committee Members

Serving on a committee requires a strong commitment to CCH and its programs. The time commitment is variable, but can be several hours a month. CCH Committees include:  Communication, Housing, Program, Volunteers and Operations/Technology.
